Changing brake pads on a 92 Corolla..?

Is it as simple as hinging up the caliper, pulling out the old pads and sliding in the new ones?

Well, don't forget to compress the cylinder that pushes against the pads. The new pads won't fit unless you make room for them by pushing the cylinder back into position. You can buy a special tool to do this with at any auto parts store (under $10).

yeah its toyota!!!!
yes it can be. It also can be a bit of a chore and you do need to know what to look for to make sure the rotors are within specs and not ruined.
That's pretty much it. Get a Haynes manual (or similar) to walk you through the steps.
most front brake can be done at home unless they are worn down to the point of grinding then more has to be done to fix them... first take a large screwdiver behind the pad and pull trying to push the piston back dont pri on the piston just the pad remove carliber take out old pads put in new ones pump brakes before driving to make sure you have done it right. if you have grinding brakes then rotors will need to be turn down smooth again you will have to remove the rotor and take to a shop both are fairy easy but id say buy a book about the car you are working on will help you out alot read about how its done before doing it will amke alot more since have no pictures here to some how its done
