Will I be okay changing brake pads without turning my rotors?
you will be OK, but when mechanics recomend turning the rotors asures several things to the customer. smoother stops, quieter stops, and longer lasting service from the shoes. most wear on rotors is circular grooves caused by dust/dirt getting between the pads and rotors etc and can be from defects in the pads materials. If you ever need me I have a free web page www.mycarandineedhelp.com i help people needing to streatch their money trying to repair what they can.

NO! look at your pads and rotors when you take them off. see those grooves? that is all contact area. if you put new pads on only, then just the tops of the ridges on the rotor will come in contact with the pads. You will have sh---ty braking performance in it is very unsafe.
If you are replacing the brakes in your wife's boyfriend's car, then.....do what you want.
run your hand on your rotors if you dont feel bumps or if it still looks straight you should be fine, any cracks or hot spots replace your rotors
If your rotors are smooth and shiny they require no turning.
Circular gauges mean you waited to long for your brake job.
Yes, but only every other time you switch out the pads.
Yes. I only turn discs that are badly grooved
