1999 Ford Mustang 35th Anniversary Edition. After changing brake pads they are not releasing. ?

After changing the brake pads on my car, they are not releasing. After using the brakes in town, I pulled onto the interstate and tried to accelerate.. the car just would not go! The noise was a deep thumping kind of sound and had to pull off the highway to allow them to cool off for a bit. The front wheels were extremely hot to the touch.. but back wheels were still cool..

What could be causing this problem with my car? It only has 63,000 miles on it and in mint condition. This was the first time I had to replace anything on the brakes .. I have only had to replace the battery so far on the entire car, except for the transmission flush and filter change at 50,000 miles..

Did you bleed off the calipers or just press them back.... the ABS in Fords requires you to open the bleed and bleed off fluid instead of allowing it to return to the Master cylinder, I don't have one in here but the caliper may have to be screwed back in like on an Isuzu. this would create excess pressure on the pads..... try a good bleeding of the system.

Oh GEE a 1999 could also have had goop on the caliper and it seized go ahead and remove JUT ONE and see if you press it out and then you can manually return it.. it doesn't have to go much..
